Kokomo Retreat is located at Tapeka Point, at the entrance to the world famous Bay of Islands. Tapeka Point is approximately three hours drive from Auckland and just two kilometres from the historic village of Russell. Before the Europeans settled in New Zealand the area was a Maori Pa (fortification) but these days we call it home and invite you to stay at our beautiful beachfront property.

Tapeka boasts two beaches ideal for fishing, swimming and other water sports. It has a boat ramp for launching boats. Watch passing Orca whales if you are lucky or swim with the wild Dolphins off the beach. Nearby is Kauri Cliffs, Waitangi, Kerikeri and other world class golf courses. Visit the famous “Hole in the Rock” at Cape Brett, a popular way to view the Islands of the Bay, take a day sail or sit back, relax and watch the endless parade of boats passing by. There’s also an abundance of great walking tracks in the area and it’s the perfect base from which to explore Northland.
